Terms
Last updated 23 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Jenner Learning when you create an account or start a plan. Please read them. Nothing in them takes away your legal rights as a consumer.
1. Who we are
Jenner Learning is run by Thomas Jenner, a sole trader trading as Jenner Learning. Our postal address is Postal address, to be added before launch. You can email us at hello@jennerlearning.co.uk.
2. What Jenner Learning is
Jenner Learning is online practice for the 11+ test that grammar schools across Birmingham and the West Midlands share, with courses called 11+ Year 4 and 11+ Year 5 and a Year 3 start. It includes practice questions, timed mock papers and a progress view for parents.
We write every question ourselves to match the style of the test. Jenner Learning is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to GL Assessment, West Midlands Grammar Schools (the schools' partnership), the King Edward VI Foundation, any council or any school. We don't have the real test papers. GL Assessment is a trade mark of its owner and is named only to describe the test. Practice helps, but we can't promise any score or a place at any school.
These terms also cover GCSE Maths practice for Years 10 and 11, Foundation and Higher, if you add a GCSE Maths place when we offer it. It includes typed-answer practice, lessons, practice papers to sit online or print, and estimated grades. Jenner Learning is independent and isn't linked to or approved by any exam board. Practice helps, but we can't promise any grade.
- Estimated grades are estimates. We work them out from your child's marks using our own grade boundaries, set from the exam boards' recent published boundaries. Real boundaries change every year, and on screen only final answers are marked, while the real exam also gives marks for working. An estimated grade doesn't predict or promise the grade your child will get.
- Extra time is for practice. The 25% extra time setting only changes the timer on our practice papers. We don't check whether your child has extra time in their real exams, and turning it on doesn't affect any arrangement with their school or exam board.
3. Your account
- You must be 18 or over to create an account. Children use Jenner Learning through your account: in child mode or, if they have a GCSE Maths place, in student mode on a device you link.
- You're responsible for your child's use of Jenner Learning, including student mode on their own device, and for keeping your password and PIN private. Please tell your child to keep their own student PIN private too, and remove any device that shouldn't be linked.
- Student mode belongs to your account. You can remove your child's device or their place at any time. We tell your child, in their own notice, what you can see.
- Your account is for your own household. Please don't share it with other families.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
4. Plans and prices
- You pay for each child, and each child needs a place on your plan to practise.
- Prices are shown on our Prices page and in your parent area before you pay. They include any VAT that applies.
- You choose to pay monthly or yearly. A monthly plan renews each month until you cancel. A yearly plan is one payment for 12 months and doesn't renew unless you choose to turn renewal on. GCSE Maths is monthly only: a plan with a GCSE Maths place is paid monthly for every child on it, and a GCSE Maths place can't be added to a yearly plan. GCSE Maths places for Year 11 students end after the summer GCSE exams. We'll email you at least 14 days before, with the date (in June, July or August) and a choice to keep the place, for example for a November resit. If you keep it, it carries on monthly as normal until you cancel. You can also let a kept place end from your parent area: it ends at the end of the month you've paid for, and we won't charge you for it again. If you don't keep it, it ends at the end of the month you've paid for that includes that date, and we won't charge you for it again. If it's the only place on your plan, your plan ends then too, as if you'd cancelled it. If we take a payment that includes the place after that date, we'll give that part back, as a refund or off your next payment. If you turn renewal on and another year would run past your child's 11+ test (September of Year 6, or the test date you've given us), your plan carries on monthly instead from the day your year ends, at the monthly price for the same places. We'll tell you in the email we send 30 days before your year ends.
- Adding a child adds a place to your plan. On a monthly plan, you pay for the part month on your next bill. On a yearly plan, you pay for the rest of the year straight away.
- Children in Year 3 are on the Year 3 start, which has its own price. Children on the Year 3 start move on to 11+ Year 4 on 1 September. The price changes from £20 to £30 a month (or from £16 to £24 for founding families) from the first monthly payment on or after 1 September. A yearly plan keeps the Year 3 start price until the year you've paid for ends, then, if you renew, renews at the 11+ Year 4 price (£300, or £240 for founding families). The Year 3 start's yearly plan is sold from 1 September to 31 May. We'll email you by 1 August with the date and the new amount. You can cancel before 1 September and pay nothing more, and you can ask for a full refund of the first payment at the new price within 14 days of it.
- Children on 11+ Year 4 move on to 11+ Year 5 on 1 September, the September they start Year 5, and every skill score carries over. The price changes from £30 to £45 a month (or from £24 to £36 for founding families) from the first monthly payment on or after 1 September. A yearly plan keeps the 11+ Year 4 price until the year you've paid for ends, then, if you renew, renews at the 11+ Year 5 price (£450, or £360 for founding families) when a full year still fits before your child's 11+ test. Otherwise it carries on monthly at £45 a month (or £36 for founding families), so you never pay for a year that runs past the test. The 11+ Year 4 yearly plan is sold from 1 September to 31 May. We'll email you at least 30 days before, from 1 August, with the date and the new amount. You can cancel before 1 September and pay nothing more, and you can ask for a full refund of the first payment at the new price within 14 days of it.
- We may offer some families a free account. It ends on its end date or if we remove it, and you then choose whether to start a paid plan.
- Stripe takes your payments. By paying, you also agree to Stripe's terms.
5. Free trial
Your first plan starts with a 7-day free trial. You give your card details at the start, and your first payment is taken when the trial ends. Cancel before then and you pay nothing. We'll email you at least 3 days before your trial ends, with the date and amount of your first payment and how to cancel. Each family gets one free trial.
6. Cancelling and refunds
- You can cancel at any time from Manage payments in your parent area.
- When you cancel a monthly plan, you keep access until the end of the month you've paid for. We don't charge you again. The same applies when a Year 11 GCSE Maths place ends after the summer exams (see section 4).
- Within 14 days of your first payment, you can ask for a full refund for any reason. Email hello@jennerlearning.co.uk. Your plan ends when we refund you.
- If you've turned renewal on and your yearly plan renews, you can ask for a full refund of the renewal payment within 14 days of it. Email hello@jennerlearning.co.uk. Your plan ends when we refund you.
- Apart from these refunds and the ones in section 4 when your child moves up, payments aren't refundable, except where the law says otherwise or we've let you down.
- Mock exams are booked and paid for one at a time. You can cancel a mock exam booking for a full refund any time before its weekend opens. Email hello@jennerlearning.co.uk. Once the weekend has opened, the booking isn't refundable, except under your legal right to cancel below.
- If we cancel a mock exam weekend, we refund you in full.
Your legal right to cancel
- The law (the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013) gives you 14 days to cancel a plan or a mock exam booking without giving a reason. The 14 days start on the day your plan starts, including a free trial, or the day you book the mock exam.
- To cancel, tell us clearly before the 14 days end. For a plan, you can use Manage payments in your parent area. For a plan or a mock exam, you can email hello@jennerlearning.co.uk or write to us at the postal address in section 1. You can use our cancellation form, but you don't have to. It's enough to send your message before the 14 days end.
- Plans: when you start a plan, you ask us to give you access straight away. If you cancel within the 14 days, you pay nothing during a free trial, and we refund any payment you've made in full, with nothing kept for the days you used. Our own 14-day full refund promise above runs from your first payment, so it always lasts at least as long as the legal right.
- Mock exams: when you book a paid place, you ask us to start straight away. If you cancel within the 14 days and before the weekend opens, we refund you in full. If the weekend has opened, we refund you in full if your child hasn't started the mock exam, or keep a fair amount for the part they've sat and refund the rest. Once your child has finished the mock exam, the legal right to cancel ends.
- We refund you within 14 days of hearing from you, to the card you paid with, with no fee.
7. Founding price
- Who qualifies. Families whose email is on our waitlist before public sign-ups open, and who start their first plan with their founding code within 30 days of the email inviting them. If you've unsubscribed from our emails you still qualify: ask us for your code, and start your plan within 30 days of the day we send it to you. It's one family account per email.
- The price. Year 3 start: £16 a month or £160 a year. 11+ Year 4: £24 a month or £240 a year. 11+ Year 5: £36 a month or £360 a year. GCSE Maths (Foundation or Higher), monthly only, if you add a GCSE Maths place when we offer it: £20 a month. Prices are per child. Each is the total you pay, including any VAT, so it won't go up if Jenner Learning has to start charging VAT. "Fixed" means the amount you pay in pounds never goes up while your plan continues without a break. It doesn't follow our standard price.
- How it's applied. You claim it with your invitation link, by signing up with the email we invited, or by typing your code in your parent area, before your first payment. It can't be transferred, except as we agree.
- Siblings. Every child you add while your plan continues gets the founding price for their course.
- Moving up. When your child moves on from 11+ Year 4 to 11+ Year 5 on 1 September, their place moves to the Year 5 founding price (£36 a month or £360 a year), never to the standard price: on a monthly plan from the first payment on or after 1 September, and on a yearly plan when the year you've paid for ends. We'll email you at least 30 days before.
- Year 3 start. The Year 3 start's founding price (£16 a month or £160 a year) is for the time your child is in Year 3. When your child moves on to 11+ Year 4 on 1 September, their place moves to the Year 4 founding price (£24 a month or £240 a year), never to the standard price: on a monthly plan from the first payment on or after 1 September, and on a yearly plan when the year you've paid for ends. A child who moves to Year 4 questions early keeps the Year 3 start price until 1 September. We'll email you by 1 August. These two moves are the only ways a founding price changes while your plan continues without a break.
- Mocks. Mock exams aren't included. They're booked and paid for separately, at the member price.
- Without a break. Your plan keeps the founding price if:
- you switch between monthly and yearly (a plan with a GCSE Maths place is monthly only), or add or remove a child, as long as at least one place stays active;
- a payment fails and is paid within 14 days;
- you cancel but restart before your paid period ends;
- you renew a yearly plan within 14 days of it ending (we'll remind you 30 days before it ends).
- Can we end it? Only if we close Jenner Learning or the course, or close your account for a serious breach of these terms. If we close Jenner Learning or the course, we refund any unused part of a yearly plan. If we close your account for a serious breach, we refund as section 9 explains. We will never call it a price "for life".
8. Changes to prices
We'll email you at least 30 days before any price change affects you, so you can cancel first if you want to. A yearly plan you've already paid for never costs more during that year. Families who joined with founding prices keep them while their plan continues without a break, as section 7 explains.
9. Using Jenner Learning fairly
- Our questions, mock papers, practice papers, mark schemes and site belong to us. You can use them for your own children's practice.
- Please don't copy, share, sell or publish them, or collect them with automated tools.
- Please don't try to break, overload or get round the security of the site.
- Printable papers. If your plan includes GCSE Maths, you can download practice papers and mark schemes to print, up to 4 files a family each calendar month. A paper and its mark scheme are two files. The count starts again on the 1st of each month. Each file is licensed for your own household's use, and you can keep and use your printed copies after your plan ends. Every page carries a licence code linked to your account. Please don't share, upload, sell or copy the files for anyone else. If we find a copy shared or sold, we may use its code to find the account it came from and treat it as a serious breach of these terms.
If an account breaks these terms in a serious way, we may suspend or close it. We'll tell you why, and refund any part of a yearly plan you haven't used, unless the breach was deliberate.
10. Keeping Jenner Learning running
We work to keep Jenner Learning available all the time, but it may occasionally be unavailable, for example for updates. We'll keep breaks short and warn you about planned ones where we can. We add and improve questions regularly, and we may change features, as long as the service you pay for stays at least as good.
11. Our responsibility to you
If we break these terms, we're responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result. We aren't responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, or for business losses, since Jenner Learning is for families. Otherwise our total responsibility is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the problem.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't let us limit. Your legal rights as a consumer aren't affected.
12. Your information
Our privacy notice explains how we look after your information and your children's information.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We'll email you at least 30 days before a change that matters to you. If you don't agree, you can cancel before it takes effect.
14. Problems and the law
If something goes wrong, please email hello@jennerlearning.co.uk first. We'll reply within 5 working days and try to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, or in Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there.
